Ubuntu Guides, Tweaks & Hacks for Your Dell Inspiron 1501
What's the problem with wifi?
my understanding is that they no longer use the bcm43xx driver .In the newer kernels it is a b43 driver thus you need the b43-fwcutter instead. I tried it briefly but never got it working, had alpha 4 and it was so buggy that wifi was the least of my worries. Go here and have a read.b43 has a new codebase and cryto which probably translates into a lot of swearing for us . ;) Hope some of this helps you as this site helped me switch from the dreaded winwoes.http://linuxwireless.org/en/users/Drivers/b43
slips on his black hat. Give me a couple of hours : )
Watch out for the new update with the new Kernel, it'll break the audio on the Dell 1501.For now I reinstalled 7.10.oh and EnvyNG (for 8.04) works perfectly.
