It features interviews with prominent hackers and entrepreneurs (and hackers-cum-entrepreneurs), including Richard Stallman, Michael Tiemann, Linus Torvalds, Larry Augustin, Eric S. Raymond, Bruce Perens, Frank Hecker and Brian Behlendorf.
It is a great documentary, I want to to call it required watching. It is a must see if you want to learn about to the genesis of GNU, Linux and the people involved.
Check out the trailer here:
If it has caught your interest you can watch the full movie on Google videos here.
I'd love to know what you guys and girls think of it. I love the ideas behind GNU.

This is a really interesting video for many people who have no idea what's a free software, but not much for linuxers who most of them happen to have the same philosophy, and probably already read the history. A longer and a much detailed documentary would be really great.
Yea, the free software idea is really cool. I would like such free philosophy implemented in more ways in our world, but the problem is, that people want to make money nearly out of anything and they cant see, that happiness is neither in having a lot of money, nor in buying expensive things, but e.g. in positive feedback on a well done job, making other people happy and being thanked for the way you are (that you are like you are) and so on, I think...
Enjoyable, if a tad bit dated. I'd love to see an addendum covering the last seven years, since more Linux distros have become easier for mainstream consumers to grasp.
Free software doesn't mean gratis. It's the freedom to use, distribute, and change. Free software hackers can earn money by advising or
maintenance.
